Ok, you have a beat up old 22 with firing pin damage to the chamber, rather common question. The model 12 Remington is a neat little pump action 22 as I recall.Based on the condition you describe the gun has minimal value on the collectors market. The down side is, no return on investment if you repair and sell. The up side is you can’t go very far wrong where value is concerned.Typical options –Re-barrel – that means scrounging up a replacement barrel. See what Gun Parts Inc/ Numrich has.

Arms designer, the Remington Model 12.22 rimfire slide-action rifle was introduced in 1909. Action bar spring guide 28.
I think they offered replacements at one time.Line the barrel and re-chamber – common fix on older 22’s and easy to do in the home shop, but may be a bit tricky on this model as stated in a previous postWeld repair to the chamber. This is the sort of thing we consider on a 22 RF, but not a larger caliber. The welder needs to know his stuff and do a clean job.Set the barrel back and re-chamber. I sure appreciate this advice.I made a tool and managed to move the material back where the firing pin had gouged it into the chamber. The rifle now fires and my daughter loves it.says it's a 'dead shot'Problem is this.how in the world do you NOT dry fire after all the rounds are use up?
You must re-cock it to check the chamber to see if there is a live round in it.I've been disassembling the rifle and letting the hammer down with my thumb to avoid further damage. Also the rifle jams on occasion.the spent case doesn't eject and fouls the new round being fed into the chamber. The spent round is captured in the extractor but it hangs up.I know this isn't gun smith Jargon but I need your help.Anything insights appreciated.Thank you!
